Update from NASTAD Board Chair
Earlier this month, NASTAD’s Executive Director, Stephen Lee, informed the Board of Directors and NASTAD staff that he will be stepping down as Executive Director, effective January 31, 2026.
It has been a pleasure to work with Stephen in my capacity as both part of the NASTAD membership and Board. In his almost six years as Executive Director, Stephen has strengthened NASTAD’s engagement with its members; guided the organization during and after the COVID-19 pandemic; reinforced and reinvigorated our commitment to ending the HIV, hepatitis, and drug use epidemics; and strengthened relationships with our federal and other external partners. I want to thank Stephen for his dedication and incredible work during his time at NASTAD.
While we are sad to see Stephen leaving his role, I and the rest of the Board are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and supporting the NASTAD staff and membership during this time. I am confident in our strong foundation and in the leadership and commitment that the NASTAD team brings to work every day.
For nearly 35 years, NASTAD has served as a preeminent leadership organization in HIV/AIDS and hepatitis public health. Over the next few months – as we transition to this next chapter – the staff, Board, and membership will remain focused on our vision: a world committed to ending HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and intersecting epidemics.
