Past, Present, and Possible Futures of the Methadone Treatment System: A Webinar Series
The “Past, Present, and Possible Futures of the Methadone Treatment System: A Webinar Series” consists of a series of webinars in which NASTAD, in partnership with the National Coalition to Liberate Methadone (NCLM), will discuss how and why the methadone treatment system in the U.S. was established, a description of the service and policy landscape, and will also cover methadone-related stigma, and the impact of current events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and delve into patient and provider perspectives.
Methadone is an essential tool for saving lives during an overdose crisis and reducing the risk of HIV and hepatitis C transmission among people who inject drugs. NCLM advocates for a more accessible and equitable methadone system that prioritizes patient health, promotes dignity, and is grounded in evidence.
