Last Updated
This issue brief explores the intersection of HIV and various determinants of health within the behavioral health space (clinical depression, anxiety, cognitive disorders, mood disorders, substance use, etc). The brief identifies specific, tangible, options health departments might need to consider in order to provide additional behavioral health support for people living with HIV (PLWH) in their jurisdiction. The brief discusses the current state of behavioral health care, its intersection with primary care, gaps in existing care, barriers to accessing care, positive impacts associated with integrated care, and pitfalls that could arise without appropriate policy implementation.
