Ensuring Gay, Bisexual, and other Men Who Have Sex With Men Are Engaged in Ending the HIV Epidemic Planning

-

As part of NASTAD’s Chair’s Challenge “The Time is Now: End the Epidemics,” NASTAD is prioritizing the promotion of health equity into ending the HIV epidemic (EHE) planning. As health departments develop their EHE plans, focus is needed on the priority populations most at risk of HIV transmission. Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBM) account for a disproportionate amount of HIV transmissions. As such, their engagement in prevention and care planning is critical in achieving EHE goals.

In honor of the National Gay Men’s HIV and AIDS Awareness Day (September 27), NASTAD’s Gay Men’s Health Equity Work Group hosted a  webinar with peer health departments and community partners who provided their lessons learned in how they have engaged GBM community members and ensured policies and goals incorporated the needs of the community.
