From the organizers: 

Each session will wrap-up with a moment of remembrance for those who have died from a drug overdose. To share a story about your loved one you are invited to record a tribute by calling or texting 406-213-5002. You can also text pictures of your loved one to the same number. Your tribute message will be posted on Open Aid Alliance’s website. Your message and a photo collage may also be shared during the virtual events on 8/31. Open to attendees within the intermountain west.  

Indiana 

Fayette County Harm Reduction Alliance, Candlelit Vigil and Lantern Release, August 31, 6:30pm EDT, Connersville, Roberts Park (2900 Park Road) 

From the organizers:  

Please bring pictures, personal stories, or an empty chair to represent loved ones. The vigil will also include an optional prayer circle. Following the vigil, attendees are welcome to come to the state park to release balloon lanterns with messages to our loved ones. For more information call Charm Gabbard at (765) 580-2307.

New Jersey

Event: International Overdose Awareness Day- Virtual Event

Description: The Prevention Resource Network (Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey) in collaboration with New Jersey’s Harm Reduction Centers and New Jersey Harm Reduction Coalition is organizing a live virtual event to raise awareness on the overdose epidemic and to honor the lives of those affected and lost to overdose. The event will have presentations from Harm Reduction Centers, education and demonstration on using Narcan, songs and prayers in memory of those touched by the overdose epidemic, and remarks from Natassia Rozario, Director, Opioid Policy and Response, NJDOH and Roseanne Scotti, Senior Technical Advisor, Syringe Access Services, Pennsylvania Department of Health.
