Financing HIV Prevention Services: Collaboration and Innovation between Public Health and Medicaid Agencies
NASTAD is pleased to release the following white paper, Financing HIV Prevention Services: Collaboration and Innovation between Public Health and Medicaid Agencies. The paper, developed in collaboration with Health Management Associates (HMA), highlights examples of innovative Medicaid partnerships and financing arrangements for HIV prevention services from four jurisdictions:
- Louisiana: Using Medicaid Quality Incentive Payments to Improve Services and Outcomes Across the HIV Care Continuum
- Rhode Island: Reimagining Medicaid Case Management to Include High-Risk HIV Negative Individuals
- Chicago: Making the Case for Inclusion of Community-Based Organizations in Medicaid Managed Care Payment and Delivery Systems
- Houston: Leveraging Medicaid Delivery Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) Projects to Improve HIV Linkage and Reengagement
Given the number of people living with and at risk for HIV covered by Medicaid, these types of innovative partnerships between public health and Medicaid programs are crucial to ensure that we are utilizing the resources of our entire health care payment and delivery system to fight the HIV epidemic. NASTAD looks forward to building off of the research findings identified in the paper and to continue to identify and support promising practices for Medicaid partnership.
