2025 Supreme Court Case Analysis
NASTAD compiled an analysis on four following Supreme Court cases from the 2025 session year: Kennedy v. Braidwood, Trump v. Casa, United States v. Skrmetti, and Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. The resource outlines the impact the holdings of these cases have on public health. Specifically, analysis focuses on 1) the upholding of the USPSTF preventive service mandate for insurance coverage; 2) the previous use of nationwide injunctions as an essential legal tool in public health litigation and how limiting their use impacts future efforts; 3) the approval of states to enact statutes on contested medical issues that conflict with standard public health policy; and 4) the limitations states may impose on patients' ability to select their provider of choice under state Medicaid.
The resource is available to health department members upon request.
